isabell de hillerin casting step 1

I think that most of you have watched things like Germany’s next top model or America’s next top model and have a little idea of how a casting looks like. But is a casting exactly like what we see on TV?

To get the answer i went to visit Isabell de Hillerin‘s Atelier who was looking for models to walk her show during Berlin fashion Week this week.

Isabell de Hillerin and her team are looking for around 15 girls. Part of the new collection will be inspired by men clothes so they are looking for rather androgyn girls than cute girls.

The girls are coming from Germany but also some of them travelled from their home countries and take the casting for the Berlin Fashion Week shows. Indeed, first the agency send the girls that are in town to the casting but some designers also book girls from all over the world, just by having a look at their book. Those same girls are sent to other castings as well so they can walk not only one but maybe several shows.

See all steps of a casting below.

Isabell de Hillerin’s team have a look at the girls book and then make them walk in the shoes they would wear if they walk the show. This is actually the first selection at the casting. After the walk, the team decides if the girl should try on some clothes or not.  step3

All those steps are for pre-selection, after the team has seen all girls, they decide who is going to walk the show. This is actually a long process. Even if they had some girls in mind already, they will do a last selection based on the video and pictures they took during the casting.

If you follow me on Instagram and if you have read my #AmandineFashionWeekXGalaxyS5 diary you know that i was part of a project created by Marc Cain that is called 11 bloggers, 11 cities.

The kick off of the project was Berlin Fashion Week and more especially the Marc Cain Show for Spring/Summer 2015. The day of the show, 11 of us international bloggers met in the morning to get our Hair and Make-Up done by Jacks Beauty department and to wear our outfit from the Marc Cain Spring/Summer 2014 collection. I decided to wear a denim dress with a pearl necklace for a boho chic look.

After hair and make-up we went for lunch at Neni, where they serve oriental specialities and then went to the Marc Cain fashion show, that had for Theme Magic Circus and that was starring no one else than : Marcia Cross and Hilary Swank!! Following a performance featuring ballet dancers and an acrobat, the fashion show started. There were so many looks and I can already tell there are a few pieces i am totally craving about!! What i like about Marc Cain, is that in one collection, there are items for every style and every age. Therefore it make sense to create a project with 11 bloggers, from 11 cities, all with a different style. I was so happy to meet new bloggers. Especially Clémence, who is french as well. It was just so nice to talk french again!!

Now i would like to thanks Madeleine for taking all pictures, the girls from Blogger Bazaar for organizing this event and of course Marc Cain for inviting me.

This fashion week was my best Berlin Fashion week ever. Instead of running from show to show, I did literally 2 shows and preferred instead to have a good time with my fashion blogger friends i don’t see enough!

Beside meeting with the other bloggers I had a few highlights, dancing at the Eleven Paris Party where Boy George was Djing, the Michalsky Stylenite on Friday, and my very first Boat Tour on the Spree.

Second Tory Burch outfit i wore for fashion week last week in Berlin. Very simple but still very stylish thanks to the wheat print. And, perfect with flats, the only shoes i could wore after a few days wearing heels non stop.

I was wearing :

Short : Page by Tory Burch
Shoes : New Look (also available HERE)

Each time it’s fashion i think one of the biggest question is : What am I gonna wear?!

I don’t overdress for fashion week. I just go for something chic and simple with a twist. This Tory Burch Outfit was perfect. Simple but the Jace Top with all the pearls gives a twist to the outfit.

As I like to say, simple is the new black!

Top : Tory Burch
Short : Tory Burch
Shoes : Zara

Yesterday was the Stylenite, the legendary event that closes Berlin Fashion Week each season. During this event Michael Michalsky, enfant terrible of the german fashion shows his new collections, accompanied by Music performance.
In an interview we did with a few other bloggers in the afternoon he told us that since he has got his own label, he wants to create a special event based on a theme that brings together music and fashion.

This time the theme was Broken Promises. For his theme, he invited Pop Noir singer Schmidt who opened the event and swedish Band Icona Pop who played between the men’s and women’s show.

Michalsky also presented the 3 dresses he created for the launch of the new 3D Disney Movie Oz : The great and the powerful.

Below you can see a few pictures of how it was.

My 2 favorite pieces of the women show

On Friday I went backstage to see Zoe Ona’s collection. Zoe Ona is a newcomer brand at Berlin Fashion Week and the story of the brand is fascinating to me. Andrada Ona was once a doctor and gave up a brilliant career for working in the hard business of fashion. This is something i extremely respect as I think most of people would never take a risk like that.

A new career seems to start very well though. I really loved the collection, very girly chic, and with bright colors.

Below you can see a few pictures i took backstage and my three favorite outfits of the collection.

Andrada for Ona’s life is as a designer and founder of the brand ZOE ONA already. their second career and her third world life 2010 she gave up her career as a doctor in order to devote themselves to their passion for fashion and their brand concept for ZOE ONA implement. It describes itself as a “fashion person” who always dreamed of implementing a personal style, but also as a “learned realist” who knows the demands of their careers, the importance of careful planning for the success of demanding schedules. Your quality of experience is also clear that the big picture is mainly a matter of details.

I discover Barre Noire last season when the brand presented it’s collection for the first time at Berlin fashion Week. It was my favorite collection as the clothes but also the atmosphere during the show was girly and fun something i haven’t seen before at Berlin Fashion Week before.

This time again Barre Noire was the show I couldn’t wait to see. What Tim Suessbrich did for this season was as good as last season, wich i think is difficult to achieve after such a great start last season.

Below you can see how the Fall/Winter 2013 collection looks like, very bright and with lots of prints.

Pictures by me

Two days ago, Denim Brand G-Star had a fashion fashion at a church to present it’s Fall/Winter 2013 Collection. When i received the invitation i was super excited already as i know G-Star always does a cool event to present its collection. G-Star shows usually are in New York and it’s one of the biggest event during fashion week there and god knows New York is always great.

I was not disappointed at all! The show started with a ballet performance to finish with a performance by the new RAW Icon actor Michael Madson who played in film such as Kill Bill or Sin City, following the steps of Dennis Hopper and Benicio Del Toro.

The collection was great too, inspired by military and workwear clothing. See the complete collection in the video below!!
