One of the things that I like to do when I am in England is to go for an afternoon tea. To me it belongs to the UK culture as much as fish and chips and the Rollings Stones 😉
This time I was invited to taste the Ting afternoon tea at the Shangri La London, an exclusive 5 stars hotel. I already tried the vegan afternoon tea at the Shangri La in Paris before and it was delicious.
The afternoon tea at the Shangri La in London takes place at Ting, the restaurant and lounge situated on the 35th floor of the Shard building.
The afternoon tea at Shangri La London starts with a glass of Champagne, we had a glass of Veuve Clicquot, Yellow label, brut.
We then chose one of the 30 tea on the menu. Both my friend and I decided for a signature Shangri-La blends that you can only find in their hotels.
During summer, Ting serves the British Summer Time Afternoon Tea. It is a classical afternoon tea with sandwiches and scones but the pastries have got a fresher and more exotic touch. Londoners know how to eat well!
My favorite was the Peach Melba Macaron and the Exotic Eclair.
Fun fact : That day I learned that scones are broken, not cut – just like other bread and that England is fighting over whether you should add cream then jam or jam then cream. 😀

The best London view from the Shard
Not only the afternoon tea tastes amazing, but the views at Ting are amazing as well. As mentioned before, Ting is situated on the 35th floor of the Shard so you have iconic views over London. From there you can see : Tower Bridge, the Thames, St Paul’s and obviously all the City district.
Tip : when doing your reservation make sure to ask for a table by the window.
Suite at the Shangri La London
After our afternoon tea, we were lucky enough to get a tour of the hotel. Such a fantastic place! The highlight of our tour was the suite Shangri La, one of the biggest suite in London with it’s 232 square meters. It has floor to ceiling windows with a 180-degree views of the city. My favorite part of the suite was definitely the working area. Situated at the corner of 2 windows it has incredible views and is definitely an “office goal”!
The suite is also equipped with the luxurious brand Acqua Di Parma in the bathroom, and their signature Shangri-La Bed that remembers your sleeping posture for the best sleeping experience.
The price for the suite Shangri La is extremely expensive and stays a dream for most of us but you can book their other different room categories here.
