Highlights of Bangkok

Hello all, as you saw on Instagram I was in Bangkok and because so many people dislike Bangkok (which I can’t understand, today I am sharing with you some of my highlights of Bangkok.

After being in Myanmar for around 3 weeks I was really happy to go back to a modern city like Bangkok for a few days.

I have heard a lot of good and bad things so I was super excited to see the city by myself.

Some say that Bangkok is only traffic, dirt, hotels and malls. About the dirt I am telling you and I know what I am talking about because I was living there most of my life : Paris is not cleaner than Bangkok.

I actually like the fact that this city is so huge and busy. The skyscrapers and the malls make the city look so modern while being so traditional at the same time. And the traffic of course is crazy, I actually spent more than an hour in the taxi to do a few meters while going to the airport but I didn’t even get upset, I think it’s just part of the city and it’s charm and I am the biggest fan of the motorcycle. The way they drive is fascinating, I could never imagine something like this in Europe.

Highlights of  Bangkok : the skyline!

#Love that skyline!!

Tip book an hotel with a view over the city. I stayed at the Hilton Riverside.

Highlights of Bangkok : beauty and shopping

I think Bangkok is a paradise for beauty and shopping, and therefore for women.

There is so much choice to pamper oneself, massages, fish pedi,
eye lashes extensions, etc and shopping in Bangkok is for all tastes and all pockets.

#Fish Pedi was hilarious, one of the funniest thing I did in Bangkok.

#All malls are very well decorated from the inside and the outside and are very modern.

#Beside malls there are a lot of small boutiques selling very trendy clothes around Siam Square. A good alternative to all high street brands you can also find in Europe.

#Not so much people know but Bangkok is also great for Vintage shopping. I really liked the stores at Rod Fai Market. You can find everything vintage. From old cars to vintage clothing.

Highlights of Bangkok : Street life

#Markets are a big thing in Bangkok. I am a huge fan of street life, I love because it’s a good way to observe how people live.

#My favorite Market was the Pak Klong Talad market, that is the flower market. Flowers for kilometers.

#Thai food is delicious. I cannot believe that I didn’t took more pictures of the food but maybe it’s just a sign that it’s so delicious I was too busy eating it 😀 I mostly ate street food.

Highlights of Bangkok : Temples

Bangkok is also very cultural and traditional. Below at and around the temples Wat Phro and Wat Arun. If you have time to go out of the city, go for a day trip to Ayutthaya or Amphaya. You will find more infos in Dev’s article : how to see Bangkok in 3 days.

I would also recommend to visit Bangkok in your own way. Don’t follow a Bangkok guide. Just note a few things you would like to see and then walk around those locations, this is how you won’t be disappointed.

I guess Bangkok is a good stop for someone who would like to have culture and fun. I would recommend everyone to stop there for a few days when on the road to the other regions in Thailand.
