A weekend of ski in Kirchberg in Tirol – Austria

A weekend in Kirchberg in Tirol ski

Recently I spent a weekend of ski in Kirchberg in Tirol, a lovely little town in Tirol, Austria in the middle of the Kitzbühel Alps.

Kirchberg in Tirol is 1,5 hours away from Innsbruck airport and 6km away from the very famous Kitzbühel.

I would say that is it the perfect little town to spend a few days for all those who enjoy winter spots but also want to relax.

Indeed, beside ski, Kirchberg in Tirol offers many things to those who travel there.

After we checked into our hotel, the Alpenresidenz Adler, our weekend in Kirchberg in Tirol started with a dinner at one of best restaurant in town: “Kupferstube”, that is part of a culinary concept called KochArt, that regroups only a few selected restaurants from Brixental that only serves local products. Check it out if you look for a culinary meal.

On the second day, since I didn’t ski for ages, I took a ski lesson from the Skischule Aktiv they have amazing ski and snowboard teachers – I can recommend Andi, an englisch ski teacher who fell in love with Austria.

After our ski day, Angelique who took a snowboard lesson, our teachers and me went to do après-ski, the traditional way to end a day on the slopes. It was my very first après ski and it was just how I imagined it, in a rustic bar on top of the mountain, dancing on schlager music hits.

Such a friendly and unpretentious atmosphere. It is super easy to make new friends with who you meet again and again every day for après ski and later at night in the towns club.

On the second day, I felt more comfortable on my ski, and Angelique on her Snowboard, so we went to Brixen im Thale, another lovely town next to Kirchberg in Tirol. We skied in Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental, one of the largest and most modern ski resorts in the world. The ski resort has got numerous ski slopes for every levels, night ski option, but also many mountain eateries.
The resort is so big that if you stay there for a week, you can explore a new slope every day.

See the map of Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental to see how big it is.

Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental also has got an ALPENIGLU Igloo Village in Hochbrixen that is not to miss. It is rebuild new every winter and displays hand-made ice sculptures. You can step by to discover the exhibition, for a drink or for dinner. But what is to my eyes the most exciting part is that the Alpeniglu Igloo village has got an hotel where it is possible to spend the night into a two-man igloo. How romantic!!! And one in a lifetime experience!

After our ski day, we went back to our hotel, the Alpenresidenz Adler for for a recovery spell in the spa.

On Monday morning, after breakfast we ended our weekend in the mountain with a lot of laugh while tobogganing on the Gaisberg. SO MUCH FUN!!!

I wish I could extend my weekend in Kirchberg in Tirol for a dew days.

I have been to Austria a few times now, and every stay was a great experience. Reasons are mainly the great food, the friendly locals and the amazing landscapes/architecture.

Salzburg, Vienna, Achensee, and now Kirchberg in Tirol. I can’t wait to discover more of Austria in the future!

Bisous
