Last weekend, a new platform called Croove asked me to test their new car rental service which concept is a little bit like Airbnb but for cars. If you have a car that you don’t use or if you go on holidays you can list your car on the platform for people to use it in exchange for a fee. A good way to earn a little bit of money on the side.

From the renter side, it is a very easy process. Once you decided to rent a car, you go on the Croove website/app and check which cars are available. You send a request and wait for the answer.

You can pick up the car at the owner’s place or order a Croove Valet service to exchange keys and start the renting. It is all made via an app. Pictures of the car are taken at this moment so that both parties know how the car looked like before and how it should still look like after.

During the whole rental you are insured by Allianz.

Knowing this we took the car on Saturday morning and drove towards Ostküste. I went there only once before with the train which is such a hassle as there are so many nice places to check out on the coast, all not far away from each others but difficult to access with no car.

We first stopped at Warnemünde which is famous. Many german people spend some days there in holidays. The weather was not that good so we just took a walk on the beach, strolled through the market, ate a “Fish Brötchen” and left.

We then decided to go to Heiligendamm, where the G8 happened in 2007 and to Island Poel after which we drove late at night to Lübeck because we decided to go to Hansa park, an attraction park the next day. I really enjoyed Island Poel, it was so quiet, the nature was great and so green. There even was wild horses on the way.

We enjoyed the fun rides in the park on Sunday and went then back to Berlin.

I returned back the car here again very easily with nothing else than the app. This time again pictures were taken to prove nothing happened and I gave back the car in a good condition.

All very uncomplicated! You might even find a car you always dreamed to drive at a very affordable price.
