During our Austria ski road trip, we were skiing in St Anton and Warth that are part of Ski Arlberg, the largest ski resort in Austria.
Resort review St Anton am Arlberg
For those who know a bit about skiing in Austria will know that St Anton is one of the most famous places to ski in Austria and also one of the most chic one. This is where the elite spend their holidays. The reason is, St Anton has got history, it is the birthplace of Hannes Schneider who invented modern skiing.
St Anton is a ski resort for rather advanced skiers as some slopes are quite steep and narrow. One says that if you can ski in St Anton you can ski everywhere! As we were in St Anton at the very beginning of the season we didn’t see the whole area that is the largest ski area in Austria.
And what is after skiing? Same as in Ischgl, some people come to St Anton just for the après ski 😀 The most famous place for après ski is Mooserwirt, up on the slopes. We were in St Anton just the week of the opening season so there was not that much going on but I’ve heard it is an amazing après ski going on there! I might need to go back to see it and also to explore what else St Anton has to offer. I have heard the villages has got amazing restaurant and I would love to try the Winter Via Ferrata! I tried this once in Switzerland and I loved it!
Our hotel : Hotel Valluga. It is a traditional yet modern hotel. Breakfast and dinner were beyond amazing!
Warth ski resort review
Warth is a tiny tiny mountain village in Arlberg. In the winter time it is only accessible via quite a long drive through the mountains. But is is so worth it. Nestled up high in the mountains, Warth is a peaceful place. No big après ski or party here. We stayed at the Pure Warth resort that newly opened this year. Great food, great spa and great skiing. Perfect for those who only want to ski and relax! Warth-Schröcken ski resort is rather a familiar ski destination with many blue and red runs and only one black run. But since Warth is connected to Arlberg aka the largest ski area in Austria, it also suits more advanced skiers!
Ski Arlberg, the largest ski resort in Austria
With 305 kilometers of slopes Ski Arlberg connects St Anton, Lech, Warth and now Zurs and is the biggest ski resort in Area!
The most famous route in the Arlberg ski resort is the run of fame. With a total of 65 kilometers, you can ski from St Anton to Warth! If you want to take the route it will take you around 7.5 hours. In this case, be sure to depart early! Indeed, if the lift is closed you will need to take a taxi back and this will be VERY expensive!
I hope to be able to go back to this ski area in the future in order to be able to compare all the different villages connected to the Ski Arlberg area.
