A weekend in Usedom at Travel Charme Strandidyll Heringsdorf hotel review

I love to go on a short getaway to the Baltic Sea in the summer. This time we spent a weekend in Usedom at Travel Charme Strandidyll Heringsdorf hotel. Here is my review

A weekend in Usedom Island

I went to the Baltic Sea a few times, my favorite way to go there and the most convenient one is by car. Usedom is only 3 hours away by car from Berlin so it is a really quick drive.

This time we rented a car at Sunny Cars. A car rental company that I already used for my road trip in Miami last year.

Usedom is an island that is both German and Polish. One side of the island belongs to Poland and the other side of the island belongs to Germany.

How to get to Usedom from Berlin

To arrive on Usedom there are two way to get there. One through Poland. There you will need to take a 5 minutes ferry to arrive on Usedom or via Germany. I felt the way through Poland was a bit more exciting but it was also a bit longer. If I go back to Usedom, I would rather go through Germany as it is quicker and then use my car to go on the Polish side of the Island.

After our little roadtrip to Usedom, we finally arrived at the Travel Charme Strandidyll Heringsdorf situated on Heringsdorf beach. It is the second time for me in a Travel Charme hotel. I stayed 2 years ago at the Travel Charme Fürstenhaus am Achensee, Austria.

Travel Charme hotels are really classic hotels that are perfect for couples on a getaway.

Check in at Travel Charme Strandidyll Heringsdorf hotel

We arrived at the Travel Charme Strandidyll Heringsdorf, in the middle of the afternoon. We checked in at reception and someone helped us with our luggage and brought us to our very spacious room. We stayed in a double room with balcony looking on the park landscape.  This is especially nice for an evening wine. The park landscape is very nicely flourished and very green and therefore very relaxing.

Direct access to the Usedom beach

We then went straight to the beach to take advantage of the nice weather. The hotel is situated directly on the beach promenade, and is therefore 1 minute away from the beach. You can ask a key for one of the traditional baltic beach chair and spend as much time inside as you want. So lovely! I did not go into the water as I am more used to hot sea temperature and the Baltic sea is really too cold for me but it was still nice to do people watching from my chair and enjoy a good book.

Later that day, we went for dinner at the hotel.

Restaurants at Travel Charme Strandidyll Heringsdorf

The hotel has two restaurants, The Belvedere with an “à la carte” menu and the Gardino that serves a dinner buffet with an “à la carte” main course.

While at the hotel, we tried the Giardino restaurant. Every guest has breakfast at the Giardino in the morning. I liked that you can have breakfast until 11A.M. I never go that late but I don’t like to be stressed in the morning so I like to have this option. There is nothing worth than to be stressed in the morning because you might have missed breakfast (happened to me so many times). I enjoyed the richly varied buffet filled with bread, croissant, smoked fish, cold cuts, yoghurt, muesli, etc. My boyfriend was actually happy to be able to eat a typical german breakfast which made me realize I had absolutely no idea on how a typical german breakfast looks like after 10 years in Germany.

We also had dinner at Giardino. I am not a huge fan of buffet for lunch and dinner but I really liked in on the first night, a bit less on the second night. At the end it is all a question of taste more than of quality as the hotel uses local product for their meal. I recommend to check what is on the evening menu during the day and then choose if you prefer to eat at Giardino or at the Belvedere. The price is very similar if you take a main dish at Giardino anyway. The local deer at the Belvedere sounded very tasty.

On our second day, we spent the morning at the beach and then we went for a walk in the area. We walked on the beach and we went to the Pier. I had such a throwback to California last year!!!

Wellness in Usedom at the Travel Charme Strandidyll Heringsdorf

At the end of the day we enjoy the outdoor pool and the spa area. The spa area has everything you need, an indoor pool, a jacuzzi, 2 different kind of sauna, a steam bath and even a salina that is very good for one’s lung.

What I also liked at the hotel is that beside the fitness room, sport activities where offered for free every day. Yoga, water aerobics, etc.

Travel Charme Strandidyll Heringsdorf – Review

We spent 1,5 days at the hotel. It was a bit short but unfortunately my schedule did not allow me to stay longer. I would suggest to stay at least 2 nights and three days if you would like to fully enjoy the hotel and explore a bit the island. Indeed, there is much more on Usedom to see than maybe the beautiful pier and the beach.
