In today’s article I will review my luxury stay in Istanbul at the Shangri La Bosphorus.
I already visited the Shangri La in Paris and in London where I went for an afternoon tea but this was the first time that I had the chance to actually stay at one of the Shangri La.
The Shangri La Bosphorus is a 5 stars hotel situated on the banks of the Bosphorus.
The room at Shangri La Bosphorus
My room at the Shangri La Bosphorus was pretty amazing. It had views over the Bosphorus and was large with everything you need in it. As a welcome gift, the Shangri La offered me a chocolate egg with the famous bridge of Istanbul drawn on it. So cool!
The room itself was very spacious with a large comfortable bed. Did you know that the Shangri La offers a pillow menu? before your arrival you can decided on which kind of pillow you would like to have regarding your needs. Soft pillow, pillow against back pain, etc.
It also had a very spacious bathroom with a bath, Bulgari products and a TV inside the mirror. Perfect to relax after a day of sightseeing.
Turkish hammam experience
At the Shangri La spa, that has a huge gym and inside swimming pool, it is possible to book treatments. They offer a typical Turkish Hammam experience. It was the first time for me to try it. Such a cool experience even though I can’t decide if I liked it or not. With a combination of scrubs, massage and activation of your blood circulation with alternation of warm and cold water. Definitely worth trying when in Istanbul. You will decide for yourself if you like it or not.
The food at Shangri La Bosphorus
IST TOO restaurant at Shangri La Bosphorus
I had dinner two times at the Shangri La. One time at IST TOO which is the international restaurant of the hotel. I like it a lot because you can seat outside and look over the Bosphorus. It serves turkish specialities but it also has a noodle station, a grill and a sushi bar.
Shang palace at Shangri La Bosphorus
Another time I had dinner at the Shang palace which is the Chinese restaurant in the hotel. Indeed Shangri La is from Chinese origin and therefore introduces you to it’s culture with Chinese-Cantonese cuisine. Chinese food is one of my favourite of not my favourite cuisine in the world so I was very happy to try it. The restaurant itself is so beautiful and you could think that you actually are in a luxury restaurant in China.
Afternoon tea at Shangri La
Another signature of the Shangri La is the afternoon tea. I already tried the vegan afternoon tea at the Shangri La in Paris as well as the afternoon tea at the Shangri La in London with amazing views over the city. The afternoon tea at the Shangri La Bosphorus was delicious as well. It is in the spacious and elegant lobby and it serves light snacks as well as pastries. Also the moment to try the famous turkish tea!
Review Shangri La Bosphorus
I stayed 2 nights at the Shangri La Bosphorus and it was a fantastic experience. The hotel is so great that it would be easy to only stay at the hotel and not even go out to visit the city if only maybe to wander the souks and bring some souvenirs home!
The service was impeccable and everyone was always very friendly and helpful. A true luxury experience.
