If you are in Toronto you should not miss the chance to see the Niagara Falls. You probably have seen pictures of them but it is a complete different experience to see the waterfalls in real. Below my tips for your Niagara Falls trip from Toronto.
Niagara Falls from Toronto, Canada
The Niagara Falls are situated around 2 hours away from Toronto by car.
You can drive there if you have a rent a car or you can book a full day Niagara Falls trip from Toronto.
Best side to see the Niagara Falls
As you might know, the Niagara Falls are situated at the border of the USA and Canada. So what is the best side to see the Niagara Falls? From the American side or from the Canadian side? The falls are situated on the American side so it is best to visit the Falls from the Canadian side aka from the Niagara Falls state park. This is by the way free. You will only need to pay for parking.

Crossing the border at Niagara Falls
If you are in Canada and want to cross the border to the USA it is possible. What you will need is an ESTA, and it will cost you 15dollars.
Quite easy but also quite pricey.
How to see Niagara Falls
- A classic to visit the Niagara Falls is to take the boat aka the Maid of the Mist to go as close to the falls as possible. You might get wet!
- Seeing the falls from above with helicopter
- Watching the falls from the Skywheel
- Have dinner or a cocktail with view over the falls from the Skylon tower
- From behind the falls
Niagara Falls fun zone – Clifton Hill
For people seeking a bit of fun after a visit to the Niagara Falls, Clifton Hill is your destination. It is actually the main street going down to the Niagara Falls and there are many things to do from shopping to entertaining.
You can buy a ticket to experience 6 of the activities at Clifton Hill or purchase for each activity your ticket individually. We went to Nightmares Fears Factory. It was so amazingly scary I really recommend it.
Also zip lining over the falls is probably fun to do for people seeking the thrill.
Niagara Falls trip from Toronto worth it?
Many people told us it would not be worth it to go see the Niagara Falls. Indeed it is very touristic but I really enjoyed our trip. I think the Niagara Falls are one of the places to see once in your life and with the right mood it is a really nice experience. The Niagara Falls might be smaller as expected but are still very impressive and the Niagara Falls fun zone definitely added a plus to our trip! Also The Niagara Falls from Toronto are really not far so it would be a shame not to visit!
